Club Rules
Club Logistics and Rules
Generally, we ask that members be respectful to and considerate of other members and their enjoyment of the Club. Some general reminders: please watch your younger children at the pool and on the grounds at all times, please comply with rules regarding guests and limit guests during busier times. We are a community and want to ensure we remain thoughtful of our fellow community members.
Hours:
The Club is open from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily except Mondays. The Club is closed for the month of January, including squash and platform tennis. Calls to the Club Manager/Executive Chef should be limited to the days the Club is open so that he can enjoy a day off.

Family Membership Privileges:
Privileges of the Club are extended to members' unmarried children under the age of twenty-six (26), residing in a member's household..
Guest Policy:
A member may invite a guest to accompany him/her to the Clubhouse and facilities subject to the following rules:
[(General Rules #4, Guests)] “No more than five guests may be introduced in one day by one member without approval of the House Committee. Guests[, other than house guests,] must be accompanied by a member. Included in the term “guests” are any members’ children who are themselves married, or who are unmarried and maintain their own homes. A house guest is defined as a person staying at the home of a member who is in residence at that time.”
The member will identify the guest to the Club Manager/Executive Chef, and, if they are using the pool, to the lifeguard. The charge for a pool guest is $10. Please remember to fill out a blue chit.
A member may invite guests to accompany him or her to enjoy the privileges of the Clubhouse and the facilities thereof, under such regulations as the House Committee shall prescribe.
Members are responsible for ensuring that their guests comply with all Club rules.
Pets:
Members are not allowed to bring pets to the Club.
Parking:
Parking regulations are in effect for the primary purpose of assisting members to enter and leave the Club safely with minimum inconvenience. Please turn right on entry, proceed around the boat house and parki on an angle in the south lot.
There is no parking allowed in front of the boat house.
Dining:
Dining Room hours may vary by the month. Hours will be posted on the club website and emails will go out to inform members of hours.
From February through December, the dining room is open Tuesday through Sunday.
The Club is also available for private events on “closed” days, depending on the season.
Please contact the Club Manager/Executive Chef to discuss your needs.
Take out options will also be available.
Members are not permitted in the kitchen.
Children should at all times be given proper assistance by adults in ordering food and beverages. Children under sixteen (16) signing on behalf of members must do so in the presence of the Executive Chef/Club Manager or their staff.
All charges, including dining expenses, must be signed for by Club members or by members of their immediate families, if authorized by them to do so.
Charges will be billed each month. The Executive Chef/Club Manager is not permitted to accept cash.
Reservations:
Reservations are requested and recommended for indoor and terrace dining. Twenty-four hours notice is strongly encouraged. Reservations are not required for the patio & lawn menu, but if coming with a large group, a call to the Club Manager/Executive Chef is appreciated.
Cancellation Policy:
Dining room reservations for four or more people must be canceled 24 hours in advance of the reservation time. If they are not, the member will be charged a cancellation fee of $20 per person for regular dining and $30 per person for special events. The only exception to the cancellation fee is if the member converts the reservation to a take-out order for the same day.
Outside Food:
No outside food is permitted at the Club. The only exceptions are private parties organized with the Club Manager/Executive Chef (see Private Party) and birthday cakes (which are allowed only with permission from the Club Manager/Executive Chef and will be subject to a service fee).
B.Y.O.B.:
The Club does not possess a liquor license and cannot serve alcohol. Members are welcome to bring beer, wine, or spirits to accompany meals in the dining room or on the lawn. Members must open their own bottles.
Dress Code:
Smart casual attire is required in the Clubhouse, the west deck and the south patio for lunch and dinner service.
[As a family friendly establishment,] we ask you to please use your best judgment to dress appropriately as you use the Club facilities. Out of respect for members, please wear shirts outside of the pool area, coverups when walking around the club, shirts on the tennis courts, etc.
Photography:
No commercial photography - still, video, or film - may be conducted at the Club without prior approval of the Board of Governors. The only exceptions will be photography at private parties.
Racquets (Tennis, Platform Tennis & Squash):
The Club’s online court reservation system, via www.riverdaleyachtclub.com, should be used to make all racquets reservations. If you have lost your login or need other assistance, please contact Josephine in the Business Office.
Members may reserve courts up to two days in advance for a maximum of either one hour per day per member family during prime time or two hours per day per member family during non-prime time. Prime time runs from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to dusk on both weekdays and weekends. All other times are non-prime. Reservations begin on the hour.
The charge for guests is $10/guest.
Members and guests are required to wear appropriate attire. Predominately white is recommended but not required. Only regulation tennis shoes may be worn on the tennis courts. It is important to sweep the court and brush the lines after each use. If the Har-Tru is excessively dry, when possible, members should turn on the sprinklers for five to no more than ten minutes.
Kindly cancel your court reservation if you cannot use it so the court is free for another member to book.
Swimming Pool:
The swimming pool is available daily, except Mondays, during the summer season. The Club assumes no responsibility for anyone using the pool or locker-room facilities (or any Club facilities, for that matter).
Use of the pool by members, by their children and by their guests at all times is at their own risk. Children under sixteen (16) will not be permitted to use the pool without parental supervision until they have passed the swimming test, and their names have been posted at the pool. Children under ten (10) must always be accompanied by a parent or another adult.
Insofar as possible, children under sixteen (16) should make use of the dressing rooms at the north end of the pool. All persons are requested to shower before entering the pool. No food or drink is permitted at the pool.
The charge for guests is $10/guest.The member will identify the guest to the Club Manager/Executive Chef, and, if they are using the pool, to the lifeguard. Please remember to fill out a blue chit.
Boats:
Members who anchor or moor boats in the river do so at their own risk. No member's boat shall be moored to the Club's bulkhead except for receiving or discharging passengers.
Use of Club for Parties:
Exclusive use of the Club is not permitted. Private parties must be arranged in advance in accordance with any rules as prescribed by the House Committee. Sponsoring member must be in attendance. The date must first be cleared with the Club Business Office and the Executive Chef/Club Manager. All individual arrangements and charges for food, services and any additional needs are to be arranged with the ExecutiveChef/Club Manager. Please consult the Private Party Planning Contract for pricing and rules.
After a date is confirmed with the Business Office, members are to make all arrangements for the event with the Club Manager/Executive Chef for parties less than 50. For parties over 50, members are to make all arrangements with an outside caterer/party planner under the supervision of the Club Manager/Executive Chef. The club reserves the right to deny access to any outside vendors.
A signed Party Agreement is required and will be sent to you from the office a few weeks prior to your event.
Private Parties - Rules and Pricing:
Over 12 People will require the following: (plus sales tax where applicable)
- Event Fee: $20 per person
- Staffing Charge: 20% of food costs
- Cost of food
- Party planned with the Club Manager/Executive Chef
- Food costs and staffing charges do not apply towards dining room minimum.
From 50 to 75 People will require the following: (plus sales tax where applicable)
- Event Fee: $20 per person
- Event Management Fee: $500
- Outside Event Planner: (provided by the member) to work under the
supervision of the Club Manager/Executive Chef.
- Mobile Kitchen: (provided by event planner/caterer). Caterer will not have
access to the RYC kitchen.
- Event Liability Insurance: Event planner and all outside vendors must provide
Liability Insurance and list Riverdale Yacht Club, Inc. as a certificate holder and
include additional insured with a $1M limit. Must provide proof of worker’s
compensation insurance.
- Valet Parking: Parties for 50 people or more from Memorial Day through
Labor Day require one or more parking control people from the RYC approved
vendor https://www.cvpparking.com/ To be paid by the member.
- Linens, flowers, decor (provided by the member)
- Members are responsible for the clean-up of the Club after events. The
members/vendors must clean the site and return it to “as is” condition. If this is
not the case, the Club will charge a $50 hourly rate to return the site back to “as
is” condition.
- At the Club’s discretion, a minimum $500 bond will be requested for
events over 50 people.
Over 75 People will require the following: (plus sales tax where applicable)
- Event Fee: $20 per person
- Event Management Fee: $500
- Outside Event Planner: (provided by the member) to work under the
supervision of the Club Manager/Executive Chef.
- Mobile Kitchen: (provided by event planner/caterer). Caterer will not have

Gratuities:
Gratuities for normal services of the ExecutiveChef/Club Manager and staff are not permitted. However, there is an annual holiday fund for the ExecutiveChef/Club Manager and staff. Members are encouraged to contribute at that time.
Condition of the Premises:
Members should avoid leaving towels, tennis rackets, bathing suits, and other miscellaneous items on the lawn, terrace or around the area of the swimming pool and ensure that children do the same.
General:
(a) Use of the Club and its facilities by members, their families and their guests is entirely at their own risk. The Club will not be responsible for injuries or accidents to members, their families and their guests while they are on any part of the Club property.
(b) All children under eleven (11) years of age must be accompanied on Club grounds by a responsible older person.
(c) The Club will not be responsible for personal property left at the Club. Valuables may be left in the ExecutiveChef/Club Manager’s care.
(d) Dogs are not permitted on the Club grounds either on or off leashes.
(e) The rooftop sundeck is off limits.
(f) Complaints should be made in writing to the Commodore or to the Chairman of the House Committee.
(g) Any changes in members' addresses should be reported to the Treasurer.
Authority of the ExecutiveChef/Club Manager:
The ExecutiveChef/Club Manager is instructed to notify members and their children of violations of any of these rules and, if necessary, to report such violations to the House Committee and the Board of Governors.
CLASSES OF MEMBERSHIP
Classes of membership are at present defined as follows:
- REGULAR MEMBERS: limited to residents of the Riverdale District as defined in the By-Laws.
- NON-RESIDENT MEMBERS: regular members whose places of residence subsequently become established outside the Riverdale District as defined in the By-Laws.
- NON-RESIDENT FAMILY MEMBERS: Eligibility for Non-Resident Family Membership is limited to children over the age of twenty-five (25) years of present Club members. Their admission shall be subject to all other requirements of the admission process except the resident requirement. No parent will be permitted to sponsor a child for admission.
DUES, INITIATION FEE, NOTE AND DINING ROOM MINIMUM
Dues and initiation fees at present are as follows:
- REGULAR MEMBERS
Initiation fee: $3,000 plus tax.
Dues: $3,700 per annum plus $500 annual capital assessment, plus tax.
- NON-RESIDENT MEMBERS
Initiation fee: $3,000 plus tax.
Dues: $3,700 per annum plus $500 annual capital assessment, plus tax.
- NON-RESIDENT FAMILY MEMBERS
Initiation fee: $3,000 plus tax.
Dues: $3,700 per annum plus $500 annual capital assessment, plus tax.
New members are required to purchase a note in the amount prescribed by the Governors, The note shall be repaid in accordance with Article IV, Section 7 of the By-Laws.
Additionally, there is a dining room minimum usage requirement, which is determined at the discretion of the Board of Governors. The current minimum is $950 per year.
